MY STORY

How I started

I baked my first cake when I was ten years old. My mother was out and I wanted to surprise her. She came home with her friend and I proudly presented my first cake. A ghastly bright green cake! It would have been quite edible if I didn't put the Icing on the cake while it was still warm. Nevertheless my mom gave her friend and my elder brothers THE look and they calmly started to eat a piece of the cake. I ate a lot of it myself and was very sick that night!

Full marks for my mother, who was not embarrassed and motivated me all the way. 

I Wanted to prove myself and started using recipes. Real recipes. Experimenting became the order of the day.

My mother and some of the ladies at church sometimes catered for weddings. I was very artistic and was often asked to help with the decor and flowers.

I was always in awe of the beautifully decorated wedding cakes and tried some techniques on my families birthday cakes. I even baked my own wedding cake.

When my first son was born I discovered the magic of novelty cakes. I had four children and they always loved the special cakes I made them

At the age of thirty, I started working as a trainee chef at the Goldfields Hotel in Nigel, South Africa. I learned fast and was promoted to head chef within a year.

  My Mission

Food and baking has always been my passion, I believe in using only the freshest ingredients in my baking. I do everything myself (even the dishes), and even though I have no formal training in sugar art, I strive to better myself with every cake I create. 

I use the flowers that our Creator gave us as models to work from and try to make the flowers as natural as possible.

I do not work in mass. I take only one or two wedding cakes per month in order to be able to work exclusively on your cake.

I may also take one birthday or novelty cake per week, for the same reason. When I create your cake it will be exclusively done for you.

To me, you,my client will always be the most important person. I value your input and will respect your feelings. As long as I work on your cake, you will be my first priority, until I deliver your cake.
